There was a time when I was enthralled with going up to the highest point above a city and getting the shot looking down. Today I think that approach is a bit "postcardish" and cliched. The sucker-for-the-sunset side of me, however, still likes looking down on magnificent vistas and iconic places and saying "wow." All three of these Italian coastal towns have the wow factor. Top: Vernazza, Cinque Terre. Middle: Portofino, about an hour north of Cinque Terre. Bottom: Positano on the Amalfi Coast. I look back and still think the hikes were worth it.
