For me, the Opening Day of the Major League baseball season is something I look forward to all year. Every season, writers wax poetic about baseball, trying to explain to the uninitiated what the first day of the season means, but I just hate reading about "renewal" and "rebirth." It doesn't need to be explained, except perhaps for those unfortunates who just don't get what all the fuss is about. The long shadows of the Seattle Mariners' pitchers as they "shag" in the outfield during batting practice is a beautiful thing. And no, Nigel, "shag" doesn't mean what you're thinking. Picture #2, the Oakland A's take the field for the first time in 2013, and at bottom, King Felix pitches to Josh Reddick.
